Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. ALS leads to muscle weakening and affects the client’s ability to control voluntary movements, muscles and breathing. As the disease progresses, clients lose the ability to independently care for themselves and require special assistance in order to maintain care.

Our caregivers can assist with mobility and transfers, plan and prepare healthy meals, and assist with personal care, housekeeping, and more. Our care managers will create a care plan that supports the client’s reduced communication skills and ensures that the client receives the emotional support needed. We can also provide daily or occasional respite care for family caregivers.
